Elex

Today’s face: Elex, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “fall”. While I’m a very amateur watercolourist the handmade Greenleaf & Blueberry paints I’m using a lot right now make my portraits look a tiny bit like I know what I’m doing. They’ve persuaded me that anyone who says the quality of materials doesn’t make a difference is lying! Looking through my little watercolour book there’s a very obvious step change when I started using them. So I seriously recommend them – they’re expensive but worth every penny IMHO.

Aster again

Today’s face: Aster, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “blind”.

Collin & friends

Today’s face: Collin & friends, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “filthy”. I decided to try something different today. I wanted to capture the frantic, filthy & fun atmosphere of Collin’s photo of holi festivities so I tried an ink single line contour drawing and then some watercolour and neocolour crayon. My sketchbook wasn’t wild about the mixed media but it survived!

Devin

Today’s face: Devin, inspired by Sktchy. I bought some wonderful handmade watercolours from artisanal producers Greenleaf and Blueberry in Colorado, USA. This is the first time I’ve used them and I’m in love with the intensity of their colour, how they mix and how they feel on the page. They are fabulous!
