Today’s face: Maria, inspired by Sktchy. I’m taking Sketchbook Skool’s new Coloured Pencil course which started this week, so I’m going to be practicing with coloured pencils a lot over the next month.

Today’s face: Caroline, inspired by Sktchy.

Today’s face: Jordan, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt, ”Screech”.
Drawn in a Hannehmühle Nostalgie sketchbook with Kuretake Zig Menso paintbrushes and Dr Ph Martins Black Star India ink.
Today’s face: Rick, inspired by Sktchy and Inktober 2017. Rick is something of a legend amongst the Sktchy community. He is one of the most popular muses and is constantly updating his feed with new photos for artists to draw. His photos are funny, thoughtful and interesting, and there are currently nearly 400 to choose from! What’s more, he has such a great face to draw to start with. I drew this for Day 7 of Inktober and the prompt “shy” ( yes, British irony). Right now so many artists are drawing him that October has been unofficially dubbed ricktober! If you’d like to follow him Sktchy username is @fallout42_n and his Instagram username is @niecejr.
Drawn in a Hannehmühle Nostalgie sketchbook with a paintbrush and Dr Ph Martins Black Star India ink then edited digitally on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil using the Procreate app.
Today’s face: Lauren, inspired by Sktchy. This is a very special face. Yesterday I was the host of a Sktchy Live event, during which I drew most of this portrait live to a worldwide audience on a live feed on Sktchy’s Facebook page, and also answered questions from the audience while I was drawing. I was very nervous, but once I settled into drawing I enjoyed myself hugely and it was fun to share my process with other people – and I was well supported by Sketchbook Skool friends amongst the commenting audience. You can watch a recording of the Sktchy Live by going to the video section of Sktchy’s Facebook page here.
Drawn in a Hannehmühle Nostalgie sketchbook with a Micron 01 pen and Copic markers.
Today’s face: Leeza, inspired by Sktchy. This is Leeza imagined as Penthesilea, Queen of the Amazons for Sktchy’s #WAXodyssey challenge. Drawn in a Hannehmühle Nostalgie sketchbook with a Micron 01 pen and Copic markers.
Today’s face: Daisy. This is a portrait of my daughter Daisy and is part of this week’s homework for the Sketchbook Skool Urban Sketching kourse. This week’s klass is taught by the illustrator Lapin and the homework is to draw a “big head” portrait (where the head is the largest part of the portrait and the body can be drawn smaller to fit in the page) of a live subject and paint it with watercolour, mixing all our colours from just 3 watercolours, blue, red and yellow. Lapin also includes a speech bubble in his portraits to record something of the conversation he has with his subject while drawing and he asks his subject to sign their portrait so I followed his protocol with my portrait. Drawn in a Hannehmühle Nostalgie sketchbook with a Unipin 03 pen, Jane Davenport watercolours and Prismacolor coloured pencils.
