Mr Fox

Drawn in a Midori Cotton sketchbook with a Micron 005 pen and Copic markers.

Today’s the last day of Inktober 2017 and I’ve posted an ink drawing for all 31 days so I’ve successfully completed the challenge! It’s been fun but I’m happy that I’ll be able to draw more on my iPad Pro and with whatever materials I choose again. But I’ve learned a lot and pushed my skills further so it’s definitely been worth the effort and I’ll certainly be doing it again next year. In the meantime, here are all 31 drawings:

Hannah

Nicole’s Twisted Carrots

Today’s face isn’t a face but a watercolour of Nicole’s twisted carrots, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “United”.

Drawn in a Fabriano Venezia sketchbook with a Micron 005 pen, a white gel pen and painted with Greenleaf & Blueberry watercolours.

Elex

Today’s face: Elex, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “fall”. While I’m a very amateur watercolourist the handmade Greenleaf & Blueberry paints I’m using a lot right now make my portraits look a tiny bit like I know what I’m doing. They’ve persuaded me that anyone who says the quality of materials doesn’t make a difference is lying! Looking through my little watercolour book there’s a very obvious step change when I started using them. So I seriously recommend them – they’re expensive but worth every penny IMHO.

Rick again!

Aster again

Today’s face: Aster, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “blind”.

Drawn in a Fabriano Venezia sketchbook with a dip pen and Dr Ph Martins Black Star India ink and painted with Jane Davenport and Greenleaf and Blueberry watercolours.

Knutsie

Today’s face: Knutsie, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “juicy”. For some reason my Copics started leaking and my sketchbook paper started feathering the Copic ink today so this portrait was a real challenge. It took a lot of work to rescue it: you can still see where Copic ink leaked and blobbed on the nose and feathered around the lips and in the eye, but I was mostly able to remove the worst of the leakage and feathering. When you’re working with Copics these things can happen sometimes, it’s all part of the challenge.
