Aster again

Knutsie

Today’s face: Knutsie, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “juicy”. For some reason my Copics started leaking and my sketchbook paper started feathering the Copic ink today so this portrait was a real challenge. It took a lot of work to rescue it: you can still see where Copic ink leaked and blobbed on the nose and feathered around the lips and in the eye, but I was mostly able to remove the worst of the leakage and feathering. When you’re working with Copics these things can happen sometimes, it’s all part of the challenge.

Erin

Today’s face: Erin, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “furious”. One of the things I’m really enjoying about Inktober this year is hunting around on Sktchy for the perfect inspiration photo for each of the prompts. At the beginning of the month I didn’t think I was going to bother with the prompts but as time has gone on this search has become what I look forward to the most. This photo of Erin’s was just perfect for furious!

Collin & friends

Today’s face: Collin & friends, inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “filthy”. I decided to try something different today. I wanted to capture the frantic, filthy & fun atmosphere of Collin’s photo of holi festivities so I tried an ink single line contour drawing and then some watercolour and neocolour crayon. My sketchbook wasn’t wild about the mixed media but it survived!

Drawn in a Midori Cotton sketchbook with a Micron 01 pen and painted with Greenleaf and Blueberry and Jane Davenport watercolours and Caran d’Ache Neocolor II crayons.

Sophie

Donuts

Today’s face isn’t a face but a pile of donuts/doughnuts (depending on your preferred spelling), inspired by Sktchy and today’s Inktober 2017 prompt “fat”.
