Today’s face: Donna, inspired by Sktchy. Donna was the muse for the final lesson in Sktchy’s Crosshatching with France course, which was all about drawing a portrait using crosshatching with pen. If you want to know more about the course you’ll find information in the Sktchy shop here.

Drawn in a Moleskine sketchbook with a Micron 05 and a Micron 01 pen.

Today’s face: Nathaniel, inspired by Sktchy. This January Sktchy is running a month long subscription only challenge. Subscribers are challenged to draw 30 faces in 30 days and receive mentoring from of 4 Sktchy’s best artists via a closed Sktchy Facebook group, a different each week. I have, of course, signed up for the challenge. Each day we receive an email in the morning with a drawing tip from that week’s mentor and a photo to draw from if we choose to (though we can draw any Sktchy muse).

This week’s mentor is Nadiya Duff and she chose Nathaniel as today’s muse. I chose to draw from her suggested photo today and this is my portrait of that photo. You can see other submissions for this Sktchy challenge by searching on Sktchy, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram for #30Faces30Days

Drawn in a Midori Cotton sketchbook with Micron 01, 05 and 005 pens, Copic markers and Posca pens.

Today’s face: Michael, inspired by Sktchy and Inktober 2017. Today’s prompt for day 8 of Inktober is crooked and I decided to draw from a photo of Michael’s that has been sitting at the bottom of my Sktchy queue ever since I joined! I love the photo but I think I’ve also been very intimidated by it and so have avoided drawing it for a long time. I’m so glad I decided to draw it now because I think it turned out pretty well.
